Songwriter Demos
There's a lot of talented people out there with songs to share, poems to be set to music in the
hopes that some major artist will like the material, record it, it becomes a huge hit and everybody
makes a ton of money!
Well, it has happened!
We tell just about all of our clients that the above scenario has about as much chance of happening as does their winning
their respective state lotteries! But that doesn't deter us or them from producing the best demo that we
can in the musical style intended. You just never know and it's certainly better to participate than to always wonder "what if?".
We encourage our clients to study the craft of songwriting, learn what rules there are (then break them)
to create the best song that they can...it's very competitive. The total time a producer might listen to the many tapes and CDs that
they receive daily is maybe 30 seconds each! If it's a good song, it had better be good from the get-go and engage the listener.
Towards that end, we'll offer our input on certain modifications that we think might make the song a better
song (change the form, alter the chords, suggest a stronger melody in a certain place, etc.) and then
arrange the song in the style that best suits it.
After that, we hire the best singers and musicians, as needed, to round out the demo to make it a
well produced (not over-produced!) presentation of the writer's intent.
