"At this point I've got a bit of a track record. So people realize that when 'Weird Al' wants to go parody, it's not meant to make them look bad... it's meant to be a tribute."*
Parodies
A friend of ours, Mark Richardson of Eclipse Music Productions, occasionally calls on us to fill in for his work with United Stations Radio Network when he is away.
Some of his work, and subsequently ours, is to create parodies of familiar songs to reflect current news events.
Here are a few recent (mp3) examples of work that we've done for Mark and USRN.
Go, Go Mazzilli!
We did a remake of Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla", with the lyrics changed to "Mazzilli," the recently fired manager of the Baltimore Orioles. It was for the 98 Rocks Morning Show (Baltimore). We got that authentic 70's lead vocal sound by doubling Kelly Dean's lead vocal, aka singing & recording it twice. Tommy Peters laid down the guitar parts and Sharon Smith did all the groovy harmonies.
Stop Stalking Me!
They say for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. With the success of Keith Urban's "You'll Think Of Me," you knew that sooner or later there would have to be a rebuttal. And here it is!
(For Y98-FM, St. Louis...Tommy and Sharon, once again)
Accordionized Rolling Stones
Radio Station WOGL (Philadelphia) is featuring their less than talented (but eager) news guy playing accordion. Here are two Rolling Stones songs ...WOGL "accordionized!"
Brown Sugar
Paint It Black
All Jacked Up (Bobby and Kate)
Gretchen Wilson's hit became an intro to the popular morning team, Bobby and Kate, of Froggy 107
(Glens Falls, NY) Lisa Whitley, vocals.
